What It Takes to Be a Successful Brand Ambassador

“Like Mike. I wanna be like Mike…”

Do you remember the Gatorade commercials from the 1990s that featured Michael Jordan? Or maybe you remember the Larry Bird vs. Michael Jordan commercials for McDonald’s. Celebrity endorsements are certainly nothing new and they continue to be an important part of the marketing efforts of large, multinational mega corporations.

But the rise of the Internet in general and social media in particular has really changed what the face of an “influencer” really looks like. Mainstream celebrities will always have their place, but bloggers like you and me can get in on this action as “brand ambassadors” too.

What Is a Brand Ambassador?

It’s not exactly a secret anymore that companies of practically all sizes can and do use brand ambassadors to grow their business and to extend their reach. For the most part, they look for the right bloggers, Twitter users, YouTube personalities and Instagram profiles to share their brand message in a natural and authentic way.

More and more companies and organizations are starting to recognize that their message is much more powerful when it is shared by someone other than themselves. This creates a win-win situation for everyone involved, so long as the authenticity is maintained.

Your responsibilities as a brand ambassador (or as a “blog ambassador”) can vary considerably. Some companies might want you to feature their products in your Instagram feed every now and then. Others might want you to blog about them on a regular basis. It’s really up to you to negotiate an arrangement that best works for everyone.

What’s in It for Me?

Again, that depends. You’ll find that the generosity of brands will naturally vary quite widely. In some circumstances, you might not much of anything at all aside from free “swag” in the form of product or service samples. You might get invited to “insider” preview events.

This may not sound like much (and it might not be), but there are ways to leverage this to your advantage. If you’ve never been a brand ambassador before, these opportunities can prove your worth for future partnerships. Any “preview” events and product access can provide great content fodder for your blog and social feeds too. If you’re among the first to review XYZ product, there’s a good chance you’ll get some initial traffic as a result.

Even when some brand ambassador programs don’t offer a direct monetary compensation (though some certainly do and it never hurts to ask), many do offer a number of “perks” that can still provide you with value. The brands may partner with other companies so that you get more product, more services, more invitations to events, more experiences, and so on. They might also feature you on their own site, blog or social channels, expanding your reach too.

But Do You Really Care?

What’s really important here for all parties involved is that you don’t go about looking to be a brand ambassador for just about anyone. It needs to fit with your existing audience and it needs to be something that you actually care about. You don’t need to be passionate, per se, but your enthusiasm and interest should be genuine.

That really comes through in your pictures, writing and other content. Companies want their brand ambassadors to be positive, of course, but they also want them to be genuine, authentic and honest. That’s how they can really capitalize on the humanization of their brand. They want positive word of mouth that’s actually real.

Is It All About the Numbers?

Before you start to worry that you don’t have enough followers on Twitter or you don’t have the traffic numbers on your blog to be of any interest to any company, realize that it’s not just about the numbers. They help, but they’re not everything.

In talking with a friend of mine who works as a PR professional, she said that she’d much rather work with a blogger (or influencer) who has 1,000 really engaged followers than someone who has 10,000 followers with zero engagement. Seek those likes and comments and show that your audience really connects with your content.

And that’s how you can be successful as a brand ambassador. Don’t be afraid to pitch companies that don’t already have a brand ambassador program in place either. You might be surprised by who might say yes.

Making $1 Million Per Year From 1 Affiliate Network

Today (April 28) is a very special day. Not only did I broke the $300K commission mark in MOBE in only 118 days, but if you add up the payout and the pending payout, it works out to $2,745 per day. Why is that amount important? Because $2,745 per day = $1 million per year!

$1 MILLION PER YEAR From One Affiliate Network

MOBE is one of the key systems that allows me to live the Dot Com Lifestyle: time freedom, money freedom, and location freedom. Since joining MOBE in September 2012, I watched the income go from around $12K in the first month, to over $170K last month. And this is just my MOBE income. It doesn’t include income from my blog, ClickBank products, continuities, or any other online income sources. I’ll leave it up to you to guess what my total Internet income is. 😛

Are You Making The Maximum Amount Possible?

Most bloggers monetize their blogs with a Google Ads or other advertising networks. They may also do affiliate marketing by recommending a book and linking to Amazon with their affiliate links. The problem with this type of business model is the payout is very small. You’ll make 5 to 25 cents from a Google Ad click, $19 from a $37 ClickBank product, and a measly 60 cents for selling a $10 book on Amazon.

At these low rates, you have to do a ton of volume to make any decent money. Even at 25 cents a click, you’ll need 40,000 clicks a month to make $10,000 a month. Assuming two percents of your readers click on an ad, you’ll need 2 million views to make $10K! How many blogs do you know get that much traffic?

Scale Vs. Magnitude

There are two main ways to increase online earnings. You can increase traffic (scale), or you can make more money on the traffic you already have (magnitude). Most bloggers concentrate all their efforts on scale. They figure the key to making more money is by getting more traffic. If you’re making $1K a month with 100,000 views, then you should make $2K a month with 200,000 views. That’s the logic of it, anyway.

The reality is most bloggers will never achieve the scale required to make a living online. The funny thing is, it’s not scale that’s the problem. It’s magnitude. Most internet marketers are promoting small ticket items that makes them next to nothing. What they should be doing is going after big-ticket sales.

The Secret To Making Big Money Online

Let’s say you want to make $100,000 a year, and you have two choices to do it. The first is to sell a $10 eBook. The second is to sell a $10,000 mastermind. Which do you think is the easier path to $100,000: selling 10,000 eBooks or ten masterminds?

The answer is the ten masterminds. With the $10 eBook, you would need to sell 1000 times more products to equal the income generated by just one $10,000 product. When you have magnitude, you don’t need that much traffic to make really great money. I only need a few hundred clicks to make $28,800 in two days. Why? Because that amount represents just three product sales! How much traffic would you need to make that much with a $10 eBook?

If you want to make the big money online, you absolutely need to add high-ticket offerings to your product mix. Yes, it does take more effort to sell a $10,000 product than a $10 product, but it won’t be 1000 times more effort. It might take four, five, maybe ten times more effort, but it will never be 1000. Yet, selling a $10K product will give you 1000 times more income than a $10 eBook.

Most Internet marketers shy away from high-priced products because it takes more effort to sell them. While it’s common for a $10 info product to be sold with a simple sale letter, this can’t be done with a $10,000 product like a MOBE Titanium Mastermind. To sell a high-end product, a much more personal approach is required, and that generally means talking to the customer on the phone.

I don’t know about you, but I hate getting on the phone and avoid it like the plague. The Tel line on my business card has no phone numbers listed. Instead, it says “You don’t call me, I call you!”

The Solution – Your Own Phone Sales Team

How do I make big-ticket sales without getting on the phone? I let people like Max Aria do it for me. Max is a member of the MOBE phone sales team. All those big paydays you see me make, like making $22K in 1 day or $88,247.68 In 15 Days, Max made those for me. Max does the work, while I live the Dot Com Lifestyle.

Below is a video interview I did with Max during a trip to Costa Rica. The man is a machine. Shortly after the interview, he was back on his Skype calling leads up and making money for the MOBE partners. Max can do the same for you.

Setting up your own phone team is a very expensive affair. This is why I leverage a system like MOBE. They already have everything in place. My job is just to send the leads into the sales funnel, and then let the phone team take over.

More than 60% of my blog’s income now come from products that cost more than $2,000. These are the core products and profit multipliers. Most Internet marketers don’t have them because they don’t want to get on the phone, and they don’t have the resources to create them. The solution is simple. Create your own phone team and high-ticket products either by spending a crazy amount of money, or leverage a system like MOBE, that has the products and phone team already in place. For me, the choice is easy.

One of the most common questions I get from people who are thinking about joining MOBE is, “Will all of this work for me?” and “Can I really do this business?” The answer is, regardless of your age, background, where you’re from, or your experience level, you can do this business. You can start your own online business, and be successful at it.

Your first first step is to download my ebook, the Ultimate Online Profit Model. This details the business systems I use to make six-figure monthly income and live the Dot Com Lifestyle. You can also get my Blogging Secrets book at Amazon.
