The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is one of the quickest cars that money can buy. Its all-electric power plant can rocket the car from zero to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds. But as quick as it is, the Taycan looks slow when lined up against the Rimac C_Two hypercar.
Mate Rimac (the company founder) released a video (see above) of the C_Two running down an air strip with a Dragy attached. The software showed the car was able to lay down a 2.3 second 0-60 mph time and an 8.94 second quarter-mile at 155 mph. That’ll makes C2 the quickest car in the world when it enters production later this year.
To demonstrate just how quick the C2 is, Mr. Rimac lined up the electric hypercar against a Porsche Taycan Turbo S for a head-to-head drag race. While the Porsche gets a better start thanks to launch control, it’s not long before the C_Two takes off on the Porsche and leave it in the dust.
The craziest part about all of this is that Rimac says the C_Two is only operating at 85 to 90 percent of its full power, and launch control wasn’t used. I imagine when the car achieved 100 percent power and use with launch control on a prepped drag strip, the C_Two should be good for 8.2 to 8.3 seconds quarter mile runs at 165mph. I can’t wait to see one of these at South OC Cars and Coffee.
